He Fights

Establishment Republicans are essentially gone. They are officially neoconservatives now, and anyone advocating constitutionalism is positioned as "Left Wing." I never imagined I would see these days, but here they are. And as our nation faces bankruptcy, the most conservative Christian pundits cannot get off gay marriage and abortion.

Now, before anyone blows a gasket, listen for a moment. NO--and I mean NO--politician is going to overturn Roe v. Wade. Establishment Republicans will promise it, but they will not deliver on it. Reagan did not. Bush 41 did not, and Bush 43 will not. In addition, as John Lofton argues, Roe v. Wade is not a law to overturn, because it's not a law!

If conservative Christians make a Federal mandate against abortion the litmus test for a presidential candidate, they will forfeit much more than they realize. Without a soon restoration to a constitutional republic, you'll have a whole lot more to worry about than the top three items of the Religious Right. To put a twist on Lincoln: "I like Ron Paul--he fights."
