The Mainstream and the War on Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and...

It's that most wonderful time of the year again. The time when Americans gather round the fireplace and tell tales of a time when Christian holidays were not a spurned tradition. It's a time when secularized college kids come home for turkey, dressing, and debate with their parents over the racist and theocratic history of American lore. It's a time of national debate, as disgruntled minorities whine incessantly about the offense of Christian America's last vestiges of religious tradition. It's a time when there are clear signs of the end of an era. Ho, ho, ho.

Yup, it's easy to see old America slipping away--at least that's the case for "public" properties. Today's news shows the early salvos of the cultural battle with one Florida university banning holiday decorations "from common spaces on campus," and a public school in turmoil over their traditional Pilgrim and Indian dress up for Thanksgiving. We'll see much more of this in the days ahead, and it should all be entertaining to watch.

This is just the beginning. The next four years are sure to bring out much more from the far Left as professors, activists, and politicians are emboldened by the presidency of Barack Obama. Of course, the Right is sure to react. But through it all, I am anxious to view the response of mainstream America. By that, I mean, the silent majority. Those that have paid their taxes, kept their tongues, and provided America with the only semblance of peace, order, and social stability. Until now, they've really had no dog in the national fight, but I venture to say that will change as the economy worsens and elitists push a new agenda representing their vision of America.

What's a Christian to do? Well, I can tell what I'm going to do. I'm gonna celebrate! Have a good time, and thank the Lord for every bit of it. The last thing I'm going to do is let a latte-sipping sodomite encroach on my personal happiness. Let them have their moment in the Sun. It won't last long. America doesn't want their vision for America anymore than it wants James Dobson's vision for America. Simply because America did not elect McCain-Palin doesn't mean they're desirous of ending public Christmas celebrations or attending gay marriage ceremonies.

The majority of America prefers you keep your "lifestyle" to yourself, and the only thing that will rouse them to anger is if they perceive you're changing the country into something they don't embrace. In the final analysis, they trust Christendom for more than Sodom, and the most difficult challenge of the humanist during the next four years is restraining his/her (or it's) desire to impose their outlook. If the Religious Right failed in this, the Left will fail even more so. And that's when it'll get exciting--when mainstream America is riled out of its cultural slumber.
